Bibliographic record requirements
Information to publishers
BIBSYS offers BIBSYS libraries automatic import and update of online journal subscriptions in the BIBSYS Library Database. Before we can import or update, the library must provide BIBSYS with an import file of the journals available in fulltext. In addition to bibliographic data, such as title and ISSN, the file must contain URL-address and correct holdings information for the library. In case of title changes, the file also has to contain preceeding titles if the library has access to them.

Month codes required in First- or Last online month, season or quarter
Use either 2 digit codes or 3 characters abbreviation (in english) for months:
- 01 or Jan
- 02 or Feb
- 03 or Mar
- 04 or Apr
- 05 or May
- 06 or Jun
- 07 or Jul
- 08 or Aug
- 09 or Sep
- 10 or Oct
- 11 or Nov
- 12 or Dec
Seasons codes (2 digit) may also be used:
- 21 (= Spring)
- 22 (= Summer)
- 23 (= Fall)
- 24 (= Winter)
Quarters codes (2 digit) may also be used:
- 31 (= 1st quarter)
- 32 (= 2nd quarter)
- 33 (= 3rd quarter)
- 34 (= 4th quarter)
You may deliver the file as a text file, with each field separated by the sign '|', or as an Excel file or XML file. Please, see the following examples:
